I had an opportunity to hear Apostle Claver this past Friday night at the Woodlands Tea Party PAC. I have to admit before this I had not heard of Apostle Claver, I must say my impression is this man has a unique and incredible message that is needed througout the U.S.A, including every politician in Washington DC, he combines the Bible and Conservatism in no nonsense and powerful delivery. He is a gifted communicator and sounds like the real deal, I hope to hear him again in the future!

Dear Apostle Claver,
Heard you on radio in interview with Bill Reddish – WICO. Was interested in your idea that “there are people who are conservative but they just don’t know it”.
Well, this is not new idea. It has often been pointed out that “yellow dog” democrats living in South have more in common with republican party politics than they have with liberal politics. So, why don’t they switch Parties?
All politics is local. The local politicians in the South all pander to the mix-and-match local interests of their constituencies. And which creates inconsistencies to the labelling. Maybe you should work on converting Southern politicians to switch parties. Good luck with that!
But to more directly address this “paradox” that you think you have uncovered:
Gays don’t like republican party politics because that expressly denies that gays should not have benefit of marriage, and where “don’t ask, don’t tell” is a baked in condition of military service. This is republicans living up to their reputation to always maintain the status quo. Well, gays have a problem with this heavily defended status quo because it conflicts with their interests.
Oh, and that status quo thing is something that “reformers” exactly don’t like. And that’s because there’s the republican junk yard dog – right there – protecting the status quo and blocking the reform movement. It’s predictable.
So, what’s not to like? Plenty, apparently.
And this is where I think your other idea to work on the “message” – well, that most likely, also, is doomed.
Here’s why:
There is something I readily concede to you: Nearly every person has a strong conservative impulse in him or her, and regardless of Party affiliation. I know I do. But if these regular folks – with that “impulse” – still are not being attracted to republican party politics – I think maybe you have misidentified the problem. The problem is exactly along the lines of “too little too late”, “say one thing and do another”, “give with one hand, take with the other”, “talk the talk, don’t walk the walk” – are you getting this picture which I am painting for you?
So, maybe this “message” you are crafting should be delivered to the politicians themselves, and not to the constituents running the other way, and who all have their reasons for not switching Parties.
But if you do that – wouldn’t that place you in some opposition to the conservative politics? Hmm. Just asking.
