I think we should strive to be more inclusive as a nation. I say “Happy Holidays” because there is more than one holiday in late Dec/early Jan. I celebrate Kwanzaa and have friends who celebrate different holidays as well so why not include everyone in our greetings.
I agree with Mike to a degree> When I am celebrating my holiday I say “Merry Christmas”, when I am recognizing or celebrating someone else’s holiday during the same season, I individaulize the greeting to adress the individual or group , ” Happy Hanakuh” ( spelling? not the world’s best speller ). I have not heard of Kwanzaa, but Mike has my curiosity. Now I will learn something new . ‘happy holidays’ sounds a little generic to me, like recognizing the crowd but not seeing the indivduals within the crowd. thanks Mike for the opportunity to learn something new. As for the song “It’s called Christmas ” I liked it. I think it is good to celebrate something you truly beleive in. some may find it over the top. I find it refreshing.
